we have two dogs,, and we tidy up after them,, and never let them run around ,they make no mess and dont bark... So i dont see why i should have to pay for them when some sites dont charge for kids under a certain age, that run around, make a mess, scream ,shout, nappies fill bins,, etc...

Yes, but how many dogs do you see queuing up with their pocket money to buy ice-creams, sweets and toys which are profitable for the owners?

None of those come free.
If you don't like it then find somewhere else to go.
Generally, children are far more hassle than dogs.
They kick and bat balls, ride cycles near caravans, and (these days) seem able to do what they want, whenever they want to do it - irrespective of the inconvenience and/or damage they cause.
We took our own children camping & caravanning from a very early age - but we always impressed upon them the need for care, and instilled respect for other people's property.
Yes, I know, camping is made for families - but, these days, the country seems stuffed with unbelievably dysfunctional families, presided over by uncouth parents who cannot control themselves, never mind their offspring.
I don't want to holiday with them.
Let dogs stay free, and quadruple the prices for kids...
I'm editing this to add that kids are rarely (or never) a problem on CCC rallies, etc - but many commercial sites resemble Dante's vision of hell during the school holidays.
