I get the feeling this years caravanning season isn't going to happen. I think the absolute soonest the lockdown will fully be over is when a vaccine is available, and that's not for at least another four months (as far as the news is telling us)
I am not paying 3k for 2 weekends away. If the govt aren’t going to open campsites, they can damn well give me my 3k back and the payments for the caravan that I have unable to use. It is absolutely ridiculous that this has gone on this long, yet you can cram into trains or buses and head off to workplaces where social distancing is literally impossible. A vaccine may never be found so have we just to abandon our expensive assets forever?
Get the sites open and open now Boris
Relaxing of lockdown is attributable to economic reasons, as you've just identified. Tourism brings in big bucks so it'll surely follow soon, at least in the UK, regardless of health risks.
It's been announced there will be a 14 day quarantine period for anyone entering the UK from France, from 8th June. France has retaliated by saying they will implement the same policy for Brits going there. Which effectively finishes reciprocal tourism within the EU for this year (with subsequent blow to econonomy). Which will surely increase demand for UK sites to open.
Incidentally, does anyone else wonder why quarantine will be implemented from 8th June? Isn't it a futile gesture, several months too late?
This is the letter the govt was asked to consider regarding park reopening.
I like the content, but feel the Scottish government should have been included as a recipient
There was a very funny post in "Monmouth New Business" on FB where someone had put a spoof article about customers being roped together 2M apart in Lidl.

They ignored the Welsh Parliament as well, and just wrote to the Westminster Secretary Of State for Wales, who is not appointed by us, but by the Tory government!

I left the welsh assembly out as I thought they were opening on June 1st for some reason, but yes they should have been copied in as well, love wales, its a stunning country. Just a bit of a trek to get to for us
------------- Who needs travel agents,we have our static
The sites we had existing bookings for in July and August have contacted us and said they will be reopening beginning of July.
Will be reduced capacity as a number of sites have already said will be the case to aid distancing. Touring vans and motorhomes only with their own facilities no tents as you would expect.
If they are allowed they will open shower blocks. Outdoor pools if allowed etc but assume not.
Offering a discount for reduced facilities. Personally I am very pleased we will be able to get away into the country side change of scenery etc.
Sites will have greatly reduced capacity and we are well seperated anyway. So good news. A lot of people have bought tents. I think they are going to end up disappointed unfortunately.
I am interested to know why if they are allowed to open shower blocks no tents are allowed. I have a trailer tent with running water and a portaloo and toilet tent, not all motorhomes and caravans have their own facilities so are they going to inspect each one on arrival and only allow certain ones entry.

I think the point was sites may be allowed to open but with no toilet or shower facilities. So people who have bought tents hoping to have a holiday in the UK may not have access to toilet facilities on site .
We have booked for September one site has no shower block the other has, but we are happy to use our own facilities.
Our first caravan had no shower and cold water only. We had a great holiday at a New Forest site. We heated water on the gas hob and had a strip wash in the awning with curtains closed. Toilet was a portable type one in small compartment.
I know some campers have small toilet / wash tents so it is doable.
------------- DS-There's more to life than football!!!
Thinking of what you said on the above post, i tried booking under a trailer tent, and tent on the CCC web site.
And guess what i could have booked both at sites in Derbyshire.
So not sure where the above assumption that wash blocks etc will remain closed for everyone everywhere.
Think a lot of mixed messages are out there at the moment, with no hard facts to go with them yet.
Sites may be taking bookings, but that doesn't mean they will reopen. At the moment, they aren't actually allowed to anyway. The situation is changing daily, and nobody knows where we will be at the start of July. Things could be a whole lot better than they are now, (lets hope so) but on the other hand if the virus infections start to rocket upwards again, we might be back in lock-down. The only truth is....nobody knows!

Sadly Colin I would agree with every word. We just can’t know.
