Going back to fuel costs. Interesting article on BBC app about a remote town in Dumfriesshire / Borders that bought & runs its own fuel station. Otherwise, people had to drive many miles to Hawick or Carlisle to fill up. I know it’s done in France but I can’t think of anywhere else in UK???

PS Langholm has its Border Riding in July, I think.

Before all this price-hiking started that was usually the case, but the problem is at the moment that prices are rising on an almost daily basis. It could be that Tesco has just had a delivery at the new price so they are currently dearer, but tomorrow the other local filling stations will get their deliveries at the new price and they will be charging £203.9 a litre. Around this way this "leapfrogging" has been going on for weeks. Here, £199.9 is quite a common price for diesel. Some are a penny or so cheaper, but not many. Within the next week I would expect all my local garages to be charging over £201.9 a litre. Even £205.9 wouldn't surprise me. It's getting crazy!

I guess we are very lucky where we live as we only pay £1.999 a litre and not £199.9 a litre. LOL!

On forecourt signage it doesn’t have the pound symbol, it is shown as 199.09.

My Local Tesco Superstore when it first opened undercut all the other numerous fuel stations in the locality, now they have forced most of them out of business and only a few remain, Tesco is generally the most expensive in the area, significantly more than nearest other supermarkets for sure!

The other supermarkets seem to be more consistent on pricing across their branches, as in company policy to sell at £xxx, Tesco is just plain exploitative, and will take advantage of it's local dominance of supply and fleece you if it can!

... and I'm guessing it's not so expensive as to be £200/litre, but you meant just under £2/litre!

I must admit that it has to be the most stupid thing adding on .009 to the actual price. Why not keep it simple and just use 2 decimal points instead of three as after all although you can buy £2.009 worth of fuel you still have to pay £2.01!

Whoops, that's me putting a £ sign in the wrong place. Of course it should be 199.9p a litre.

I have never understood the logic of that either. Everyone knows that 199.9 a litre is really £2 and that is what you will get charged. You can't have two decimal points in one sum. It should either be displayed as £1.999 or preferably just £2.00 as that's what it really is.

Costco fuel up by 10p a lire in 1 week.

Still only 1.80.9, so well worth the visit. (On my way back from Brum today and it was living on the fumes).

I paid a visit to the Motor Museum in Coventry and they offering a bonus if you can design a new car capable of being filled up for under £100.

Nearly every garage in this area has diesel at 199.9. It's almost like nobody wants to be the first to put a "2" at the beginning.

The price of fuel has come down in France. €2.11 at Super U in Montreuil Bellay. Sans plomb 95 is €2.08.In Saumur at Leclerc it is €2.08 for diesel. It was €2.18 or more last week.
Oi price has fallen allegedly but not passed on yet in rip off UK.

Yes indeed Dave this is definitely rip-off Britain. Oil prices go up, pump prices go up immediately. Oil price comes down, and pump prices come down a week later if you are lucky.

€2.069 per litre at Hyper U in Abbeville this morning (29 June 22)

Approx £1.79

So probably still worth filling up for the journey home.
