You know what? I never buy food at the services - we take our own - because not only is it very expensive it's usually very poor. I do buy a drink, though, and use the shops.

 Agree with you 100% with the food thing, plus drinks and shops are usually a bit pricey but ok overall.

When all is said and done I recon all us caravan people want is an easy to negociate car park, a food hall with acceptable quality and reasonable price plus loos that smell something like roses (not dead ones rofl). Oh - and some form of security to make sure our outfit is still there when we come back from our meal/drink. All of us on this thread all want these simple things.

Maybe some sort of petition to the 'big boys' who provide these service stations would make them re-think their ways. All our opinions on this forum need to be voiced to the guys and girls who operate our service stations. Then, with a bit of luck we can all afford to eat service station lasagne (or whatever lol) of a decent quality without spending a small fortune, and enjoy our rest from driving without the fear of our outfit being stolen in the car park!

I am sure it is illegal to use gas appliances on Motorway Service Areas. The consequences could be severe if there was an accident, so I would never risk it.

Also, I believe most MSAs prohibit the use of corner steadies.  I knowthis is the case at many areas, and so far I haven't seen anywhere it's allowed. You would need to check with each individual site to be certain, but the normal rule is no steadies.

Oh this is very interesting...WE have been directed to park in the HGV areas more than once .

Only last week I emailed Gordano and they told me parking was clearly signed posted for the HGV park.

Hubby was up in Bristol area today and just told me he didn't see one caravan parking sign

We always stop on the HGV section southbound on the M5 at Frankley Services. Where else do you park? No clear signs.

Avoid Frankley - frankly, it's horrible. Either use Stafford South (which is really good), or go further on.
