CHRONICLES OF THE STEALTH – THE JOURNEY BACK
YORK – continued.
The X63 also had water leak problems, coming in at the front skylight. This was resealed twice without stopping the leak and the caravan was kept at the factory between August and December. Dunster house had contacted the manufacturer of the rooflight who examined the van and told them it was the nose cone that was at fault. As there is no front window I would presume that it was the joint on the roof that was faulty. Anyway it was resealed and no leaks since !.
Other faults including the heating system cutting out, the steadies coming away from the floor, and the wiring on the underside of the floor was hanging loose !.
A fault had occurred whilst they were at York as the Tracker had packed up and this was to be seen to that Thursday.
They told me that they had to call out the engineers twice whilst on holiday in Scotland.
Both Mr and Mrs Clements stated they really liked the van but in their opinion the 2010 models had been poorly constructed by an inexperienced work force with no quality control or checking of the end product (The Production Manager was sacked !).
You have to wonder that with small numbers of 2010 models they would have sold which I presume have similar build problems why Dunster House have not bitten the bullet and replaced them as it can’t be cost effective to have staff being continually taken away from the production line to repair them !. And the resulting bad publicity – how many sales are they losing because of it ?.
This action would show that yes they were better than other manufacturers and yes they considered customer satisfaction to be a priority !. Instead they’ve taken our hard earned money and not produced the quality product they said they would. They have treated us their customers as simpletons by pretending that each reported fault is unique !.
More on that subject on my next post !
------------- Greetings from the frozen north !
