I do like that wondefully tongue in cheek answer, despite the fact that it just made me snort tea in a very unladylike fashion*
I don't think there's a deal of difference between an good old van and a new one in terms of the pleasure they bring - I figure everyone's just enjoying their hobby in their own way. Some can afford more outright, some buy on finance, some have a small budget, some just prefer the quirkiness and retro appeal of an old van.
I know we could buy a heck of an outfit on the never-never, but we'd rather spend just what we have in the pot and not get into debt - it's just personal choice. And to be honest, if I thought anyone was looking down on me for my elderly caravan (when we finally find it), I'd be feeling genuinely sorry for them for being so darned shallow, rather than envious of their shiny kit.
*and despite the fact that I'm currently in the process of buying a Kia Ceed!
