Hi,Yes tony B5 "Can anyone think of any other physical group of persons in the UK who are actually banned from a generally open site other than children.  I'm pretty sure there isn't another, whether it's an age group, an ethnic group, a religious group, cultural group, disabililty group or any other group.  So we are left with this one and only discrimination which is still aired in a possitive manner and enforced with certain site rules." (Travelers.)  Hi,Jeff would have did same as you as in my post page 2 " send some kids to play with cricket bat and ball at their caravan". Before i get shot down as a child hater, i am not i love kids but could not eat a whole one, I take grand kids with me on some trips and they ar not allowed to run riot or cause any other camper any trouble. so a lot to do with parental suppervision on teaching there kids how to behave and respect others.

What an interesting thread, lots of people have made very good points on both sides.  However I don't agree with TonyB52's statement that banning children is discriminatory.  At 63, I'd be unable to accompany my daughter on an 18-30 holiday, and she couldn't come with me on a Saga holiday.  Equally, I'd be unable to use a naturist site if I insisted on keeping my clothes on, and a non-naturist site would soon eject anyone who wandered about starkers all the time!  None of this is discrimination, It's all about providing people with a choice of the kind of ambiance they want on their holiday.

 Well said.

Heres an idea for all of those who are anti children veiled or unveiled, go on holiday when the kids aren't off.  It's cheaper and you won't have to see a single child.  You could pretend they don't exist at all if you close your eyes and concentrate hard enough.

After all, there are 37 week out of the 52 you can choose from, isn't that enough, Or do you want all 52?

Bahhhh Humbug.

Well actually not everyone can pick & choose so easily exactly which weeks (or weekends) they can take holidays.

We've never been to an adult only campsite ourselves, as it so happens all the ones we've fancied in areas we've wanted to stay haven't happened to be adult only but I'd probably find that an added point in a campsite's favour.  That's not because we `hate' children,  but neither of us is too keen on hearing screaming kids / crying babies & also like a few others we've been pi$$ed off with them kicking balls too near our tent or caravan. !

Discrimination ?  I don't really think so - after all plenty campsite do also not allow dogs, or groups of same sex couples.   As someone else mentioned it's really all about giving choice to campers about what sort of holiday they want.

A prejudice is a prejudgment, an assumption made about someone or something before having adequate knowledge to be able to do so with guaranteed accuracy. The word prejudice is most commonly used to refer to preconceived judgments toward people or a person because of race, social class, gender, ethnicity, homelessness, age, disability, obesity, religion, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics. It also means beliefs without knowledge of the facts[1] and may include "any unreasonable attitude that is unusually resistant to rational influence.

Sorry folks, whether you like it or not, Adult only sites and anti children sites are prejudiced against kids no matter how much you don't like the word.  You can dance around it as much as you want.

I don't need the meaning of the word explained thanks !     Some of us simply disagree with you that stating that we dislike being camped in places where there are children who do behave badly  makes us guilty of prejudice  - or for that matter that adult only campsites are guilty of it.

Just because you personally feel that's unreasonable doesn't neccessarily mean that it is.

I suggest that you take another read of the definition you printed - only perhaps with a less prejudiced viewpoint !

I think any campsite that banned groups of same sex couples would be in serious trouble in today's world

Banning same sex groups is a little different though...
