I have always used aerial washing powder (better still the liquid variety) It works.

I use  warm soapy water(car wash shampoo) and a ball of old tights(nylons) to rub the flies off .i use tights as an old caravanner told me they were completely non-abrasive,which fair play,they are ,also use the same method on the flies on my car .cheap and effective..duz me

i know for a fact that on the A64 between york and scarborough there are two places where you will get a bug splat attack i travel it every day and the bugs hit the screen of my truck in the same place every time

Rumple, where do you get that ultra-glaze stuff please? As you know, my view is that life it too short to be wasted on housework, so equally, why should I expect poor  hubby to spend more time than essential on c....c....cl......cleaning...our tin tent's shell? (I'm not able to do it btw....)

Since we got our new baby last summer, we've been saying that we'll invest in one of those covers for the winter, but have yet to get round to it and of course, that won't stop the bugs deaths in transit anyway.

And we defo DO NOT do excessive speeds when our tin tent is hooked up! (Or me speed at anytime). 60 mph is well fast enuff thankee very much. Anything above that you might get snaking and cause all sorts of probs. Ooohhhh shiver at the thought.

The cling film idea is brilliant. We used it for years on all our long trips. Of course the little beggars get on the wnidscreen as well, and you can't put cling film there!! We had a motor home and it worked a treat on the big high front bit which was hard to reach for cleaning.

I read somewhere that there is a chemical reaction with clingfilm if you put it over the windows it marks them or something otoh!
