I have always used aerial washing powder (better still the liquid variety) It works.

I use  warm soapy water(car wash shampoo) and a ball of old tights(nylons) to rub the flies off .i use tights as an old caravanner told me they were completely non-abrasive,which fair play, they are ,also use the same method on the flies on my car .cheap and effective..duz me

Rumple, where do you get that ultra-glaze stuff please? As you know, my view is that life it too short to be wasted on housework, so equally, why should I expect poor  hubby to spend more time than essential on c....c....cl......cleaning...our tin tent's shell? (I'm not able to do it btw....)

Since we got our new baby last summer, we've been saying that we'll invest in one of those covers for the winter, but have yet to get round to it and of course, that won't stop the bugs deaths in transit anyway.

And we defo DO NOT do excessive speeds when our tin tent is hooked up! (Or me speed at anytime). 60 mph is well fast enuff thankee very much. Anything above that you might get snaking and cause all sorts of probs. Ooohhhh shiver at the thought.

The cling film idea is brilliant. We used it for years on all our long trips. Of course the little beggars get on the wnidscreen as well, and you can't put cling film there!! We had a motor home and it worked a treat on the big high front bit which was hard to reach for cleaning.
DO NOT COVER ANY PART OF YOUR UNIT WITH CLING FILM  ----- GOT IT RIGHT ----- OMF (sorry to shout---- but some times honestly)

Oh boss my brain does hurt---plastics have changed over the years it's called progress---- and as we all know it doesn't always mean for the better --if you have ever  had to get some of this stuff off a chaps pride and joy, and explain to the poor customer that the info he got was utter garbage, and the people who wright the stuff in magazines arn't necessarily qualified to make which on the face of it sounds  like a good idea, but with no matieral or chemical background knowledge, it's like  the blind leading the blind .Take care OMF
