We bought a generator when we first began caravanning.  We don't plan to use it as frequently now as it is noisy and I, as I am sure others do, like the peace.  We have now bought an additional leisure battery which we run our TV from.  On the generator, like Michael said, it has lines going across but using the invertor and leisure battery it is a perfect picture.  We went through two portable TV's last summer (we had had them a while mind you) and I believe that the genarator had a part to play in their end.  We bought a LCD in February this year and have used the generator once with it. We don't plan to use it again though as we don't know for sure if it causes damage.

Kids make more noise than most gennies! - thats because it is natural - I like to hear kids enjoying themselves. Gennies on the other hand drive me mad and should be restricted in use. I once had one parked behind me with a hedging fence which meant he was closer to me than if being parked next to me. He positioned it close to the hedging and the awful fumes and noise just kept wafting in to the van and awning. In the end after several hours I went round and explained that with the wind direction it was causing noise and air polution into our van. "Tough sh*t Pal I av paid me rent"> I complained to the campsite but nothing happened other than they asked me to move to another pitch. So one night all of a sudden it stopped and they couldn.t start it again. Ahh sheer bliss - I wonder what could have happened was it water in the tank or sugar mmmmmmmmm him upstairs moves in mysterious ways.
