Incredible!!!!!!  If you don't get satisfaction I would increase the font of your list and put copies in all the windows and tell them you are parking outside every day and will also drive slowly around the area so everyone can see, until they give you another one.

Carol

lol, we thought of doing the same, to the extent of putting the list on each side of the caravan and parking up on the dealers forecourt .

may still happen if we dont get the result we want which ideally is a refund.

would we want a replacement Bailey after all this ???

probably not

Why ever not? Many thousands of happy Bailey owners can't be wrong. Yes you've ended up with problems on your new van & no one would wish that on anybody, but the firm is addressing the situation & you may yet end up being very pleased with the result.

I very much doubt if there's a comparable make out there that doesn't have its problems. We bought a new Compass back in 1995, it had a list as long as your leg, the company wouldn't have anything to do with it. We kept it for 12 seasons & loved the van. It's now on my nephews drive still with some of its problems & they're enjoying it as their first van.

Now yours is gone back to the plant, let's hope you soon report on its return or the outcome of your warranty claim.

Hello I fell on this site by accident, can't believe that you have or had, almost the same exact faults has our Pegasus 534. I need to contact Bailey tomorrow and sort this out, once and for all.

hi and welcome to ukcs....

sorry to hear of your experience with bailey. try ringing bailey and asking to speak with bob swaine,we dealt with him.best contact your supplying dealer as well ,it really is down to them to sort this.my dealer got a bit p**sed off with me because i contacted bailey direct as well, but thats their problem.

we were promised a full report on the findings regarding the splitting rear washroom wall ,heard zilcho.does yours have this same fault and if so , when did you buy it ? faulty batch of grp maybe if same time as us , dec09 ?

got ours repaired now , but still not impressed with bailey qc.we are away in ours as i type this and noticed 1 or 2 little things we didnt pick up on when it was returned from the factory such as 3 sealer coated finger prints on kitchen window that you only see from inside the van when the sun is shining onto it and the light scuff marks across the centre of each offside rear light where they were obviously laid on the floor at the factory when they put a new rear wall on,

love the van , shame it was bailey who made it but once bitten etc etc.

good luck with your van , dont hesitate to post any concerns you have .

cheers

jon

Hello jon

Thanks for your reply, took delivery of our Pegasus 534 just before Christmas, then returned it the next day, after finding a very poor paint repair below the kitchen window, there was also overspray on the opposite side of the van, The crack in the rear interior panel, below the window was repaired in situ by the dealers, the dealer also rectified the poor body repair. We also contacted Bailey directly. We have a written guarantee for the paint repairs from Bailey. I think the crack in the rearpanel, was caused by a air tool when they are fitting the windows to the panel.

The only problem you had, that we didn't, was the water ingress. The caravan is now sited for most of the season. We still have a few problems to be sorted, Hopefully Bailey are sending a local dealer to our Pegasus to rectify them. (but still waiting) I honestly thought that we had the only Friday Pegasus, but slowly more and more owners are finding similar faults to ours.

The sad thing is its a cracking caravan.

I have made a few posts on Caravan Talk   "stone dents"  and Bailey Bandit Boys, please take a look.

Things will get better "I hope" enjoy your holiday in your Peggy.

omg,scary...you picked it up same time as us basically,(16/12 for us)

we had a complete new o/s panel as well as interior wall replaced in washroom.

we also contacted nigel donnely at practical caravan expressing our concerns about bailey quality,i suggest you do the same asap as he contacted bailey on our behalf.

bailey have shifted the blame on the cracked rear wall to the supplier of the grp but if your diagnosis of the fault is correct then thats very poor on baileys behalf.like i say , we were promised a full written report on the outcome and heard nothing.im going to contact them again now i know theres another van with same problems.

like you say a cracking van, shame a different manufacturer didnt think of the alu-tech principle first,,,,,

Don't you think if it was that good some of the others would have come up with something similar?

Think I will stick to the traditional method and traditional manufacturers.

There is a possibility that other manufacturers did think of the idea and have discarded it already...

it would make sense to discard it,after all if theres no wooden frame to rot out theres no need to replace the caravan hence fewer sales ?

time will tell

I heard from my dealer who are a Bailey dealer funnily enough that whilst in theory great, in practical terms most of them discarded it as insurance companies (apparently) would not cover replacing a section so big for a minor fault and it couldnt be easily repaired.  Bailey have patented the design thus stopping anyone else doing it.

As you say time will tell, but it looks more like an Airstream and I can see lots of tow cars going back to having a spoiler on the roof to help with the aerodynamics.

Along with the Bailey quote of "Every caravan will be made this way"

Is Bailey thinking of taking over the caravan world?

Bev/Jon - I can see far more problems in the future on used caravan with the Bailey design than the relatively easy job of having to replace rotten wood

thanks gaz , had a look at said site, extremely informative and some very good posts and advice.

seems there are many owners with dents already on their front panels and looks like impossibly high noseweights are the norm as well....

they are an excellent van if you are lucky enough to get a good un. theres nothing out there for the money that offers the spec and cupboard space / storage bailey do.

unfortunately we found the build quality to be poor so far but ours is an early model , might be better now ?
