This has all stemmed from leaving the seller negative feedback, due to damp being found all along one wall of the caravan although the extent of the condition wasn't truly identified on the listing.  At present we are still awaiting the seller to send us the missing equipment (leisure battery and waste water hog), that has not been sent from the seller, and we have had no further communication from the seller since negative feedback has been left.

This has all escalated...we have not attempted to return the caravan, we have not named and shamed the seller (despite my details being left on the forum, which were subsequently withdrawn!)  We are going to sort out the problems, but as i stated in my original post...this was a rant and a warning against any other person thinking about purchasing their first caravan..and to warn them as to what to look for.

Well there is one very simple course of action - the seller can offer a refund.  Simple. And then none of this is necessary.  Then we can all quite happily tell tales of a seller who made a mistake who gave the money back on this forum.

I doubt itll happen though, but Graham do prove us wrong!

Bad luck but you will end up with a decent caravan for the right price.

I have learned that if an Ebayer selling regularly cannot be bothered to spell words like "berth" (birth) or "awning" (awnin) then give them a WIDE birth.

It is excusable for someone who sells bits and pieces but not a "dealer"

There isnt much you could do about the seller, and you dont seem to want to anyway, but dont let him away with not giving you the stuff that was missing.

Can I just ask; why is this thread being edited and posts being deleted?

Because the seller decided to infiltrate and post all my personal details on the forum.  Which as you can appreciate i was not happy about.  Just glad he did not have credit card details as well...

Because there seems to be a bit of a slanging match going on and UKCS isn't the place for it.

Some good advice and information has been offered by members and i think its best we leave it there.

Well said.  At last someone is asking to draw a line under the whole scenario.

As the original postee (is that the correct term) i would like for the arguing to stop.  We have decided to accept the caravan in its current state (what would we gain by a 6 hour round trip).  We have taken on board all the advice given, with regard to mending the damp and the legal stance.  We have both decided to make use of the former and just write off the latter! What is done is done!

What has gone from a rant/admission of stupidity/advice for other first time buyers had become a quagmire of arguments and bickering.

If our seller is still reading and wanting to fight his corner then he can stop!  Just send us what is missing and stop any dirty fights.  i could quite easily post all his personal details but i feel that i am a better person than that.

We will keep all intouch regarding our "project" so that other members can view it and then the can offer/ask advice.  As a family we are keeping our fingers crossed and hopefully we can enjoy our first of many family caravanning holidays at Easter.

Michelle
