At the end of the day, no matter who the manufacturer, this is what is important in my eyes. Every manufacturer will turn out a lemon occassionally, it's what they do about it that matters. It does sound, however, that Bailey have scored an own goal so far though.

Regret the day we ever bought our Pegasus 524 March this year have just had one problem after another, the ad for this caravan has been the fact there is less chance of water ingress. Well we have had more water in this caravan through windows and the underbed locker than you would want in the lifetime of any caravan. Not that this is the only problem we've had barrel locks falling out a faulty control panel and after having two underbed locker doors replaced the dealer has smeared silicone over all the joints inside the locker to try to stop it soaking under the bed. When we saw this caravan on the caravan channel we couldn't wait to order it heard they had some teething problems huh, this caravan should never have left the workshop can't wait to get rid wouldn't recommend to anyone. Perhaps in the mainland you have more choce in dealers than we do in NI but we have had enough and only left with one option.
God it saddens me to read threads like this. Makes me so angry that things like this can happen in 2010. Just what the hell can we do about it though?? tell the dealers to stick their vans where the sun don`t shine but then what do you do pack in vanning?? Grrrrrrr
Steve
Just as an aside. We had water flooding seat lockers after putting van away after a trip and just found where it is coming from. Behind fridge vent, when u open it, the freezer does not defrost into a pipe which drains outside, it drains into a little pot which overflows when you tow. Whoever thought of that should be shot.
Its sad to hear all the bad reports about Bailey vans at the moment, we talked to one of our local dealers about it the other day, he said they have now dropped Bailey for 2011 due to the issues with the new Alu Tec range.
I have to admit that having just purchased my fist ever new van, a Bailey was not on my shopping list. Mainly due to problems I had read about and the poor interior finishes. I figured give um 6 years when I would look to change again and see how they are doing with it then?
Nothing major wrong with ours either, few minors sorted out by our dealer without any issue, loads of weekends & 2 weeks in Cornwall since May 10, love the van but it is fair to say Bailey need to sort out their ex works quality fast!
Now been out in van in bad frost ali-tec body was GREAT, kept much warmer than other useing less gas as temp turned down at least 3notches from other van
Had our 554 now since Nov 10. Bought it from Lady Bailey Caravans -It's brilliant over the moon with it no problems excellent quality sounds like I've been lucky reading this blog
ours finally sorted to our satisfaction...only took a year but everything dealt with now.
new front protection and bumper done under warranty (if you dont ask...you dont get) , new bumper seals fitted to replace the early 2010 ones that all went pink, all the gaps round the window blinds/frames filled in properly with a new trim , nice not seeing gaps and screw heads , new awning light , new side locker door and frame , new type shower door (better fixings than original), new heki blind (pinholes in original) new door seal .
if only it could have been like this from day 1 ???

I have to agree with your sentiment; in our climatic conditions the "evaporating pot" concept fails more often that it works.
However its not a Bailey unique issue it damned our Hymer. We put the pipe end into a tall French milk container to get more than a few days before dumping the water is needed and enough height to stop the condensate sloshing out in transit. Our lower vent cover has a moulding to take the end of the pipe so it can optionally be drained externally. However the current pipe is too short to reach there and needs replacing some time.
