 DEAR ALL AND CONCERNED CARAVANERS

As an organisation, Fenwicks welcome feedback from its customers, whether it is good or not so good. When it is good it encourages us to continue with what seems to be doing so well. Where there are problems it helps us to learn, improve and morph to suit the ever-changing needs of the caravanner, or Fenwicks product user.In listening to our customers and acting upon what they say, we have built a reputation second to none and whose opinion is now relied upon by amongst others, the two most trusted caravanning clubs in the UK; the CC and the CCC. But we haven't just marched in and sold caravaners a load of old rubbish whether liquid or verbal. In point of fact , through listening to our customers we have gained their respect and much more.In fact most of our new customers find our products not through advertising but by recommendations from other users. Word of mouth is considered to be the hardest form of advertising yet we seem to have become a household name in the cleaning industry. This was done through hard work and quality products that give outstanding results. Our reputation didn't just land on our tow bar one day. We earned the respect of our customers by starting at the beginning, getting up at 4am, loading up the van and trekking down to the next caravan jamboree or local rally field to prove our products really worked.Whilst proving to the great unwashed that Fenwicks was the stuff everyone needed to clean their vans, motorhomes, even cars and boats, we also picked up how little some of these experts knew about the application of products. Knowledge was scant on what could clean as opposed to damage, and most alarming what horrors some of these innocent looking cleaners contained. This being the case we have been extremely careful in the application and choice of the raw materials used in all of our products.

So what does Fenwicks Caravan Cleaner consist of, Mr. Fenwick?

...and you're not allowed to say it's a secret because the consumer is entitled to know what he is using

Just why is this topic still open seems to me all the pro's and cons on this argument have been given that can legaly be given I notice thats Baileys as a company have not bothered to give a reason or point of view although they have market researchers that supposedly watch forums and press. And those of us who know OMF realised a long time ago he gets very worked up about his products to the extent he seems to give confusing answers but you can't blame someone for being proud of their achievments.

At the end of the day it comes down to Personal choice I mainly use Fenwicks but i also use a proper wax polish old fashioned type very occasionally as i feel it gives paint work a better protection.

I reckon its time to put this one to bed

I reckon its time to put this one to bed  ??

No not yet lets wait a little longer Because the Facts will come out soon

As quoted by Mr Fenwick "Our reputation didn't just land on our tow bar one day"

Also quoted "we also picked up how little some of these experts knew about the application of products"

There is not a lot constructive being said.  For those that wish this thread to be closed, simply stop posting on it, that in itself will stop this thread from being alive.  OMF and Baileys, it would appear, have some sort of issues. Leave this thread and leave them to it, surely. Bored of all the riddles and this thread now. .

Cheers  Ratty

I think some members have actually missed the point of what has or has not been said over Baileys . Thomson Plastics & Fenwick’s. Thomson Plastics merely stated that when the panel was cleaned with Fenwick’s Caravan cleaner, cracks became NOTICABLE they did not imply that Fenwick’s caravan cleaner had caused the cracks.  ?

So in my opinion the fault lies in either,  the grade or quality of the plastic being ordered by Baileys or the way the plastic is manufactured, or when the plastic becomes stressed after the panel is placed onto the framework of the caravan at Baileys. The only part Fenwicks have played in this is actually showing up the defect now is this a good or bad thing?

Another question that should be asked is  why did Thomson plastics only use Fenwicks caravan cleaner on their product ? my guess is because it has a brilliant reputation.

Baileys acted on the information by telling their dealers not to sell Fenwick’s Caravan Cleaner to people who own a bailey caravan yet failed to notify those owners on their data base, I wonder why that is.

I have read on other threads that owners have rang baileys and had no joy in getting information other than to read their owners manual and act on the information their. Now that’s fine if  the manual had any information worth reading in it when it comes down to cleaning the caravan, they virtually suggest you use just water and they never recommend any cleaner.

I thought I would have a bit of fun and rang Baileys and had the same reply , at NO time did baileys say not to use Fenwicks products.

So I rang Fenwicks  and spoke to the Man himself OMF and had a long chat  and he wishes others would e-mail him or ring him for information as he is their to advise you.

I asked him why it says what it does on the bottle he says its no more than a standard statement used on most cleaners.

I have used caravan cleaner on , my car, caravan, a friends boat, the daughters car, I have washed the groundsheets with it I have scrubbed the caravan carpet with it and the wife has used it in her carpet cleaner. And last weekend we emptied the fish pond and I cleaned the liner with it.

So I guess they say try it on an inconspicuous area first to see what the result is before you go mad. I have not had a disappointment yet.

My other thoughts are

Is the plastic panel being used fit for the purpose baileys want it for?

Why is it only Baileys caravans that are affected ?

Is someone looking for an easy get out of jail free card when it comes down to paying for the caravan repairs?

As a footnote I have just visited SoapySmiths an online shop for cleaning products and it says on their website “

Fenwick ‘s kind to the skin, aluminium, plastics, GRP, rubber and sealants, contains no acids, no abrasive agents, no solvents, no methylated spirit, no white spirit, no washing up liquid, and it's fully bio-degradable”

If this is true how can it damage a plastic panel?

OMF

This is well past it's bedtime.

Why is this company the only one allowed to advertise in the threads on this Forum?

can you please point me to an advert for Fenwicks on here? all I see is members talking about product Manufacturers name, just because Baileys wont come on and give their side of the story is not our fault, at least OMF is about to answer questions and defend his name.

that is not advertising.

Last weekend I used a strong chemical product on my caravan. I had multiple stickers and ahdesive residue from previous owners sticking on their number plate. I wanted to stick on heavy duty velcro to stick on my number plate and be able to transfer number plate  on a boat aswell. I needed a clean surface for velcro to stick on, did try at first scraping off with knife but was hard to get off and was scratching body plastic. I bought some sticker remover liquid and it did say to test resistance of surface prior to use, so tried it on underneath of caravan rear plastic and seemed fine. Did have worries at first, product smelt strong and said it was a solvent naphta (petroleum) but did the job and did not detriorate surface of rear plastic, made sure I rinsed it off well afterwards.
