Hi all and please help!

New to caravanning and bout van 2nd hand that had a Pyramid Tuscany full size awning included. All is sort ok (ish) except for the canopy. I cannot for the life of me get the thing taught so that rain runs off. Nor can I get the centre to remain on the pole hook see photos.

Any ideas before I torch the thing in frustration
