I am a self employed decorator and if I have read some of the replies correctly I wonder if people like myself came to estimate a project at your house and gave a between low and high price what the reply would be, personally I think there is more transparency if the c&cc stuck to the age old principle of pricing even if it meant an increase in price at least you would know and would therefore decide whether to use them or not.
You sound like a decent person, but in my experience of any trades is they quote their highest price and then move to their lowest depending how bad they want or need the job.

You will have now received your new 2014 Your Place in the Country guide and we hope you're already planning your trips away for next year.
All the latest prices will be live on the website from midnight tonight and you can also book through the Contact Centre from 8am tomorrow morning.
You'll have noticed some changes to the way we're pricing Club Sites for next year, which have already provoked some really useful feedback, both positive and negative. Rest assured that our new approach to pricing hasn't been introduced lightly or without consultation with members.
The reason for the changes is to enable us to develop a better campsite network for you in the long term, by being more competitive and responsive, and continuing to be an attractive proposition for campers.
The Great Value stamp (above) will show you the best prices available at the time of booking, so keep an eye out for the stamp on the website, which can help you enjoy a Club Site for less. Promotional deals may also be available from time-to-time.
Read on to find out more about the changes.
Wishing you a really enjoyable 2014 camping season.
As a member of the C & C Club and a a pensioner I was appalled by the article in their magazine which was a blatent attempt at a smokescreen to cover up the major price increases and today they have sent us all an email trying to explain their actions.
I have therefore written a strongly worded letter to the director general giving examples of the price increases for 2014 on sites which we have visited during the last couple of years. These amount to between 17% and 33%.
It makes the energy companies seem like nice guys.

Nice try Ollie but he won't travel from Warwickshire!
No need Stuart. My wife does all our decorating as she says decorating's really easy. Only today she was doing the bathroom ceiling. Her motto is 90% preparation and 10% decoration. Of course I make sure she clears up as well.

Good job you hadn't been to Edbury Hill. If you had you'd have had to have written an exceedingly strongly worded letter as the prices there have gone up by 85%.

It is true that there is flexible pricing in other areas such as rail and air tickets, hotels etc. It doesn't mean I like it though. If it is such a brilliant idea, how come it is just the C & CC that is introducing it into booking camping sites? I sincerely hope it does not work because if it does commercial sites will follow suit and it will make pricing a trip a nightmare

They already do, hence the 'special' rates that people often mention on here for Haven and Park etc. They simply adjust their prices and disguise them as special offers with limited availability and no ability to cancel.

We've been CCC and CC members for at least 10 years, we have become increasingly disenchanted with both clubs in recent years. There are three main area of discontent,
Both clubs seem to be ran less and less for the benefit of the members, e.g. High season seems to expanding with corresponding high prices, site fees rise every year, both clubs seem to be unable or unwilling to accommodate big rigs. The booking system favours the club.
Neither club manages noisy disruptive children. This year we will not be renewing our membership of one of the clubs, this is our protest at price increases, illogical season extensions, and the fact that both clubs are distancing themselves from the members. We now use smaller cheaper sites and or seasonal pitches almost exclusively. This is not criticism of the site management, most do a difficult job with aplomb and a smile.
I cancelled my membership again as we only rejoined the inferior (in my opinion) club as friends had a tent. They have now upgraded to a caravan so sticking with the CC now

Can you provide a link to what I should look at?
And what are these "so called independent sections of the club"?
I don't really need to do I Ollie you seem to come across as an intelligent person just look at this years admin cost then take a look at admin costs lets say 4 years ago.
The only part of either club that works for its members are the volunteer cl/cs warders run by DA's and Cs owners who are all being told to put their prices up so that the main site prices don't look so bad.
And yes I do have proof of that and it is in front of the c&cc complaints committee at this moment as what is laughingly called an escalating complaints procedure
