The dealers don't care, howver, the boot won't always be on the same foot & when things change, only the good dealers will thrive. Our local dealer here is marvellous, we bought ours last summer & were given a delivery date within a week of ordering & it was here on the drive 2 days early.
The dealer is so good & helpful that when our van was pinched on 1-3-07, it was the dealer who rang me to tell me the police had found my van, he'd been phoned by the police because of his sticker on the back of the van & after checking the identitiy number he rang me & told me where it was.
When I recovered the van from the police copound the following night, the dealer opened up his compound for me at 7-30 pm so my van could go into secure storage until things were sorted out.
Therefore, although most dealers are in the postion of being able to sell every unit made without offering discounts, IMO, my dealer deserves all he gets out of the job.
As far as delayed delivery times re concerned, I've not read the small print on a caravan order but when I've bought new lorries, the small print always rotects the seller in the event of delivery being delayed so I wouldn't expect too much if I were you.
