Hi

I ordered a new Bailey Range 460/4 last October. I was told at the time the delivery was week 13. Now on week 14 I rang the dealer North Staffs Caravans as I had not heard from them yet. I had enquired as when they were going to expect delivery. I was told that they did not know probably a couple of weeks.

I then rang Bailey to try and find out when the delivery date would be. After 20 mins waiting they told me week 17. They also told me that they had made the dealer aware a couple of months ago that the date of delivery was going to be delayed. Surely North Staffs caravans could have got this information.

Has anyone else had problems like this, if so what did they do. without being greedy do I expect any type of compensation or freebies from the dealer. At the moment I dont think Norths Stafffs caravans care.

I would be grateful for any help.

I've had similar problem with North Staffs....ordered small part thro them in November last year, told it would take 6 weeks. 8 weeks later not heard from North Staffs and on telephoning told 'oh they say they haven't received our order, will get on to them again.' 2 days later, 'North Staffs here...your order's arrived.' Dont think they ordered it in the first place because it suddenly went from 6 weeks to order the part to 2 days for it to arrive.

Not enough caravans to satisfy the demand.......Customers pay full price for every one produced.....Why should dealers care?

The dealers don't care, howver, the boot won't always be on the same foot & when things change, only the good dealers will thrive. Our local dealer here is marvellous, we bought ours last summer & were given a delivery date within a week of ordering & it was here on the drive 2 days early.

The dealer is so good & helpful that when our van was pinched on 1-3-07, it was the dealer who rang me to tell me the police had found my van, he'd been phoned by the police because of his sticker on the back of the van & after checking the identitiy number he rang me & told me where it was.

When I recovered the van from the police copound the following night, the dealer opened up his compound for me at  7-30 pm so my van could go into secure storage until things were sorted out.

Therefore, although most dealers are in the postion of being able to sell every unit made without offering discounts, IMO, my dealer deserves all he gets out of the job.

As far as delayed delivery times re concerned, I've not read the small print on a caravan order but when I've bought new lorries, the small print always rotects the seller in the event of delivery being delayed so I wouldn't expect too much if I were you.
