I am now going to put my tourer caravan onto a static site. I would like to put on a winter wheel on one side and a normal tyre on the other side. I will also be using wheel locking nuts on the winter wheel as an extra form of security. Can anyone see any problem with this? Would it affect the suspension???
I would put winter wheels on both sides. Presumably, you will keep the corner steadies in the down position. This would mean, with only one winter wheel, that the chassis is rigidly supported one one side, but the slow loss of pressure in the tyre on the other side could result in some strain due to unequal forces acting on the chassis.

If your van is not going to be moved for long time, I suggest jacking up the van enough to take the weight off the wheels, pop some axle stands under the axle as close to the wheels as poss, then lower the van onto the stands. Then lower the steadies. It takes the weight off the suspension.
if you use winter wheels and the van is stolen they may not pay out because you did not have a wheel clamp fitted,ie.no wheel no clamp.check with insurance before doing it.it has happened.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Personaly i wouldnt use winter wheels while on site or while in storage,If a fire was to break out how would the owner of the site move your van.We have ours on a permenent pitch with a wheel clamp and hitchlock fitted, but the owner of the site has spare keys.Does the site your thinking of going on have some sort of further security. The site were on has hight restrictions on entry and is permenanly locked unless anybody leaving or arriving in wich case you are accompanied by site owner.
