Hi, we have a crown crest GT 98'. Basically a small 5 berth caravan. It has the fold out bunk bed and i was wondering what weight it would actually hold. I have my 6 yr old, 4 stone son using it. But being a worrier as i am i wondered how long it would be before we would have to go bigger maybe a 6 berth caravan with fixed bunk.
Also my daughters are now outgrowing the back double bed. They are getting taller, my 13yr old is taller than me and the other one isnt far behind.
Has anyone else had this problem with a caravan that is maybe a bit too small? Any advice is gratefully received, thank you
When I bought my caravan (1991 Avondale Leda Cheviot) I was told the top bunk would be suitable for a large child or small adult weighing up to approximately 11 stone.
We haven't actually tried it out so I can't guarantee this but I guess that every make will be different. If you have got the handbook it might tell you about weight limits in there.

I think they are going to be a bit anorexic aren't they?

Doh!!!!!
You're right they would be looking a bit sick at that rate! The weight should have been 11 stones (I have edited the original post now).
We have a folding bunk, which I believe has a max weight of 11 stone. However, In my opinion, most offspring will find that they have 'outgrown' the bunk long before they meet the weight criteria.
My own son is a rather skinny 10 year old and he would find the folding bunk too small for his comfort. Fortunately, he has the choice to sleep on the lower bed (the dinette seats) and even that doesn't give him a great deal of room. I think in another year or two, he will have moved out into the awning annex and will only sleep inside the van in the colder months.
Hi, thank you for all the replies. Think we have a good year and a half before having to change. Can't put kids outside, they all have joint problems and the middle one has fibromalygia so thats why we got rid of the tent.
Have seen a nice one, i didnt look at the make of it, saw it yesterday at catterick caravans. 6 berth, bunks at the side with a really big bathroom at the back containing a double wardrobe. Really loved it, but will have to change the car, so will have to give it over a year.
