is it legal to drop the steadies and overnight in a layby?

I thought it was illegal to park up in a laybay - they are meant for commercial traffic - not that that seems to stop everybody parking up with a caravan on the back but personally, I would only do this if I had no alternative.  Just as noisy as the services as well I should think.

Am trawling through suitably located CL's now to find a site for an overnight stopover.

I am a wagon driver from durham and once spent the night a friday night in the Moto services at exeter, when I went to bed about 9pm I was the only thing in the truck park. Woke up at 5am and could not move the wagon for another two hours, during the night about 30 caravans turned up and had all gone to sleep blocking me in (not to stressed as im also a caravaner and do understand the problem of a suitable stopover point and i got another couple of hours kip while getting paid).

The site we stayed at is called Underhill Farm and it's a caravan club Cl it's now priced at £9.50 and in my eyes is worth every penny. As i said only 5 mins off the motorway.

I think you can book direct as it holds more than 5 vans and has more than 5 electric point. I think one section is technically a 5 van cl and the rest is open for anyone.

Well worth the money spotless site set a the foot of a large wooded hill with  2 large fields to pitch on and  2 large family shower rooms.

 I'll be booking again for this july when we head off to Newquay,

If this site was in Newquay i would be staying for the full 2 weeks.
