Hi, HAS ANYONE GOT ANY KNOWLEDGE AS TO WHERE I COULD PURCHASE A HANGER OF SOME DESCRIPTION TO HANG COATS UP IN A AWNING. I HAVE BEEN TO A NUMBER OF CARAVAN DEALERS AND ACCESORIES SHOPS BUT HAVE NOT FOUND ANYTHING SUITABLE.THE PROBLEM IS BECAUSE THE ROOF POLES SLOPE DOWN FROM THE VAN ANYTHING THAT HOOKS ON THE POLES SLIDES DOWN TO THE BOTTOM.WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN OUT IN THE RAIN ITS IDEAL TO HANG WET CLOTHING UP IN THE AWNING TO DRY, IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS I WOULD APPRECIATE IT , MAYBE SOMONE OUT THERE HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. Cheers Roy.
We use the 5 hook hanger as above as they are pretty sturdy. We have a few sets and hang backpacks on the other to keep them off the floor / where we can find them.
If you bought some sort of clamp, jubilee clip? or similar as above - even some duck tape might do the job - to stop them sliding down the pole.
We use a free standing hanging thing a bit like a rotary drier. I have tried without success to find it on Towsures site. It works well as a coat hangar and for drying towels etc.
I've got a free standing airer which I've seen in some of the camping shops. It is also in the argos catalogue. It costs about £15.00 and is very lightweight and portable as it folds up. Not sure how it would stand up to the weight of heavy wet coats.
I bought something from Harringtons at Delamere that has one vertical hanger shorter than the other end so that the horizontal rail with five hooks on is horizontal when hung from one of the roof bars.It was only about £15 and does the job a treat. It clamps on using wing nuts with a rubber bit that wraps round the poles to protect the fibreglass poles if you have them.
We use these as well. If they slide down the pole, wrap a thick rubber band round the pole before assembling the frame, at the lower end of the hanger, so it can't slide any further down than you want it. Otherwise you can get s-hooks to hook over the rafter poles.
Nothing complex for us. Buy an extending clothes line prop (£2.50) from your local Sunday market.Cut off the stop
peg section of the line end nylon fitting and push a 60p rubber Pole Mushroom onto the other.Simple to fit when needed, just snap line end over any awning front cross pole, extend and lock.
We have two.Find them effective, light, easy to carry or store and quick to put up and take down.
