Hi All

The site I stay on for the season has upgraded their pitches to hard standing for caravan, car and awning.  I put my awning up at the weekend, using extra pegs and had to go and take it down as the wind had blown it in!  It looks like the hard standing ground (which is 6ins of slate with 6ins of granite on top!) is not holding any of the pegs........... any ideas on how to keep my awning secure for the rest of the season PLEASE.

Try these i use them on grass or hardstanding and with care will last for ages. Use a claw hammer to get in / out. Dont pull on the plastic heads though as they can break.

Thanks Andy - these are similar to what I was using but I don't think mine had the ribbed end ............. I will try anything as I really want to keep my awning up.

When it comes to securing awning pegs in hardstandings, I don't think they have yet found the composition for the base material.

It needs to be reasonably easy to drive in the pegs, able to grip the pegs firmly, and not leave holes after pegs are removed, which makes it difficult for following campers to get their pegs secure if they hit same spots.

I have often thought a compacted mix of rubber crumb and granite dust would do the job.  I wonder if any of the clubs have organised a test? For example, a heavy, welded box filled with various compacted mixes, a peg driven in, and then tested for resistance to loosening.

Thanks to you all......... the 6ins on top is granite dust - which I think is the main problem as there is no security in the ground.
