Apart from the obvious, complete van going walkies, what experience has anyone had of the late night/ early morning vanishing act of caravan parts.

I have read the post by fredjen and wondered about other experiences.

2 years ago my wife woke me up at 6am to tell me that all our windows on our Lunar Delta were missing. I just could not believe it, especially as the van was on the front garden, under a street light, and most annoying we had the bedroom window open because it was too hot. We did not hear a thing, surprising really because of the damage that was caused to the paneling.

The police were very helpful, only because the investigating officer was a caravanner, but nothing was found.  We now have a superb, Elddis Crusader, and if anyone sneezes near it , it gets lit up by 2 floodlights.

I knew someone once who had the exhaust stolen from his car outside his house. Amazing what people will take.

i use a pushbike cable about 5 foot long and pass this through the chassis and through the handle on the water barrel,the fit lock.same for the waste master and step.once locked its fine,only takes a second to release for filling or emptying.

We have had our carver burner module  and carver water heater cover stolen over night .I never thought anything would get stolen like that......Was gutted very expensive , so how can you stop that from been stolen????

you cannot,just to hope lucks on your side and you do not get anything taken.we have full CClub 10 year replacement on the caravan but it still takes me 15 minutes to unlock all the locks,i have keys so hope it takes them longer and they get caught in the act.

I lock my Aquarolls and Wastemaster the same way. I put anything "attractive" in the car boot overnight, and use all the usual clamps and locks on the caravan.

Its not just Aquarolls and Wastemasters. I often walk the dogs early mornings 6.00am, and I am always surprised by the number of Barbeques (Cadacs etc), Cookers, Bikes left outside. Tent users in particular appear to leave goodies out overnight.

I've posted before on this, and said I may be paranoid, but I've never had to replace anything thats been nicked.

A friends car was misfiring as he was driving home so he stopped in a layby and got his head under the bonnet to fix it.

As he was fiddling with the engine he heard a noise by the rear of the car and looking up, saw a bloke standing by the nearside rear tyre with a jack and tools in his hand. He challenged the man who replied," If your having the battery and radio, I'm having the wheels".

We had our 3 bikes pinched from our pitch at Camp Davy Crocket whilst visiting the nearby Disney world Paris in our motorhome. It wrecked our holiday as we were stuck for transport.
