Hi all, we've had a tent for years but now feel the time is right to get a caravan,

My question is this, we've seen lots of different vans but which is supposedly the best make? We,ve seen brand new ones for about £12,000 and then older second hand ones for alot more, so I assume they were better makes?

We neeed a 6 berth van as we have 3 teenagers that still like to come with us and one or more will always want to bring a mate. I think any thing smaller would be a bit cramped.

Thanx

Everyone has their own favouites and pet hates, so you'll really need to DYOR. I chose Bailey, not because I'm a totally converted fan, far from it, but it offers a lot for your money. If I was rich with a big car I'd buy a Fleetwood heritage or a Hymer. I just don't like second hand so Bailey it is.

Bailey Ranger 550/6 great price at around 10k. We did a lot of research into all the manufacturers and they came out best price and weight, but I would say that as i've just bought one. At the end of the day it's personal choice.

The best van is what is right for you and your needs, look at a lot of makes and find one that you think fits the bill. With a used van get a damp check  before you buy and don't just buy it on the look of the lovely interior, (many do and I have in the past) you never know whats lurking behind it.

If you go for new most have a six year water ingress warranty so you can rest assured for six years but then on the other hand you will  have to have it seviced by your approved dealer for this to be valid.

If you buy used you can get it seviced anywhere at probably a much cheaper rate but with ours I was always holding my breath when it went in, in case they found damp.
