Thanks Maryloo I was beginning to think it was us.What thickness is your topper and does it cause excessive sweating? Some friends of ours have a memory foam mattress and they have this problem.

Sweating is a real problem, and it's worse with the high density foams, which of course happen to be the best ones for knackered joints and back pains. Can solve it though by using very large pure cotton thick bath sheets / towels which have not been rinsed in fabric softener on top of the topper!!!

Only just picked up on this again.

Path20, our memory foam topper came from Argos and is not one of the 2" thick ones. Proberbly 1" thick.  Can't say I have noticed sweating a problem and as I am at that certain time of life, trust me I would really notice. As I said before, I will be getting single ones for the new van but after reading some of the notices on here, I will go back to cheap and cheerful Argos for the same ones as it has worked for me.

We have Indiana with a fixed bed because of my wife's bad back . She found the mattress hard so we bought a topper and it works well. However, the drawback is that the bed with both mattress and topper is very heavy to lift to get to the under bed storage. Has anyone tried  replacing the mattress with a thinner / lighter one (like from IKEA) or used just the topper(2" thick)?

We have had quite a few different vans without a fixed bed but today we are off to pick up our new van, a Lunar Solaris 3.

It has a nice big fixed bed and we are going to stay at a site this evening to try it out.

Cant wait!!!!

We have a Swift fixed bed option.  I have back problems and at home use an orthopaedic mattress.  The one in the van wasn't fantastic to begin with, I went out and got an Argos topper, same as Maryloo. It could be the topper, or it could be that the mattress is now worn in, but I'm certainly experiencing fewer problems.

Well what can I say, after just one night in our new van I know we have made the right decision.

The bed was so comfortable and I had a really good nights sleep. I would recommend it!
