Henning - You might want to visit http://www.eriba-amiga.co.uk/awning_top.html where Eriba owners who run the website have researched the subject.

I know what you mean Henning - even my normal sized Avondale has the awning rail set too low for all the lightwieght porch awnings I can find.

My full awning seems impossible to tension correctly unless the front is higher than the caravan which I don't like doing as it means the rain will all run to the awning rail and either leak into the awning or worse still penetrate the caravan wall.

There is a special canopy or awning available for Eriba popups. Also Karsten makes one. Furthermore searching on the internet some time ago I noticed a few awning especially for low-rail caravans. They has some type of in between flap, like the ones for camper-busses (called bus-tents). Actually I saw them on the same page as those 'bus tents'.
So they are around in the Netherlands and I can't imagine they wouldn't be available in Britain.

All you need to know is

http://www.tentenatelier-vanderhorn.nl/

The word for a full awning is "Voortent", for a sun shade only "Luifel".

In the prices (prijslist) you will see half way down "Voortenten voor Eriba Touring". You can see the designs they offer in the main catalogue, and the specific fit for your Eriba is given in the list.

Vanderhorn is the best quality that money can buy, and they will colour code/match your van for whatever look you wish to have. They speak perfect English if you decide to email them.

You can always order from the Eriba dealers in Germany, of course, who keep a stock of German made awnings - cheaper than Van der horn, but not quite as good. The Koln Eriba dealer is excellent. Something else for you to consider.

(why would anyone want to deal with the Japanese for an EU caravan bit!!   )

HI.... yes why???? try to see my homepage

  www. frontboxen.webbyen.dk

see under " migogminhymer"

and tell me then,-----why does a japanese camper drive a VOLVO and has HYMER caravan behind it,---WHY?????,  -- and why I want a jap.awning ??? because it doesn't cost like a castle , and it is low weight ,only 7-8 kgs, needs only 2½ poles, while all other tents to the HYMER, KARSTEN or others  are 2-3 times the weight and requires a lot of poles.--- no european manufactor have what I want , so I will just have stick to my omnistore.

Karsten is heavy duty hence weighty, yes. But a lot of poles: No. One inflatable neoprene tube, called pole, only pump up with a compressor, three lightweight roof supports of the very easy kind. Not a lot. But weight does matter, yes.
