 I am always worried about the alko stabiliser, moving and swaying on the tow ball without any lubrication, hence all the squeaks and noises we are hearing from fellow members, what do other members think.

As far as I am aware, if it squeeks and makes a noise then your friction pads need replacing.

Ours used to make a noise, we checked the pads and they were blocked with dust/mud off the road and so weren't working as well as they should.

Maybe worth checking them

They need cleaning with emery when they start to creak and groan.

I sent some back to Alko as I thought that they were cracked but they cleaned them up and returned them with the explanation that they were contaminated with diesel fumes and to clean the ball before every trip and emery the pads when noisy.

If you lubricate the towball you might as well remove the friction pads from the stabiliser, the dry & very clean towball generates friction & resistance to aid the stabilisation.

If you're unsure, give Al-Ko a call & ask to speak to someone in their customer services department, I rang on a different subject & found them very helpful & ready to offer advice.
