Hi - we're travelling to Cornwall from Norfolk in June and have decided to leave on a Friday evening to stagger our journey.  Can anyone recommonded a stop over?  I have read on this site previously that some service stations offer this facility.  Any recommendation would be great.

Can't really recommend anywhere because in our numerous trips between Norwich or Kings Lynn and Hatfield or Windsor, we always get caught in horrendous traffic queues. So now we get some sleep and then set off very late at night. Snooze and cruise, taking it in turns. We do the same when going to Cornwall and aim to hit Cornwall as the sun rises. Maybe we're just unlucky and other folks have found a good way to do it!

Have to go along with purplehat - night time's best!!

Which way are you thinking of going? If going round M25/M4/M5, there are a number of service areas offering stop off facilities for caravans, but they're usually in with the trucks. OK to get your head down for a few hours though.

Friends of ours stop over on devon & exeter race course site at Exeter, I'm not sure if it a CC or a C&CC site though.

All the service areas are always full of vans when we go through, why not just pull in one of them & have a sleep break. I know a lot of people complain about us lorry drivers being in there but not normally many lorries about on a friday night/saturday morning.

You're missing out on a real treat, I really enjoy it. Go on, have a go. It does makes life a lot easier on the long hauls and lorry drivers are exceptionally kind and helpful when they see a woman towing, don't know why but they are, or maybe they're getting out of the way?
