We have just bought our first caravan that comes complete with awning. Every time we mention the word "awning" everybody sucks in their breath tuts and shakes their head......are they really that hard to erect?

No, my full awning a 950cm Isabella takes me 45 mins on a bad day single handed. Think about what you are dong, have patience and the job is not hard.

Hi

Make sure the joints are colour coded, and you have all the bits and practice first.

It might take longer the first couple of goes, as Bill says it takes about 45 minutes for a full awning.

Cheers

Paul

Awnings hard? Naaa! We had a frame tent and we got that down to 45 minutes so the awning was a doddle 2nd time around. Like the others have said, you could colour code the poles/joints but when you've done it once it's easy.

The awning is simpler than our old frame tent.  The trick is not to let OH 's teddy leave the pram.  First time up he told me that we had been supplied with the wrong doors.....interesting since we took the doors out to make it lighter for putting through the awning rail....... and they were where we had put them on the groundsheet.....DUH!!

We have labelled all of our poles with where they go and always have a good giggle at the one labelled "Front Bottom".

We've put ours up without instructions (couldn't make head or tails of them!!)  As of yet we've never had an argument either!!  It probably takes us about 3/4 hour.

Hi, We've colour taped ours and when erecting always lay out the poles first in their positions so they are to hand and all in the correct place.

My tip is to strap down in your van any young children, because trying to put up an awning whilst chasing after a 4 year old is a bit tricky!

Cheers everyone!

We've never had a frame tent so wouldn't know how easy or hard erecting one of those would be

Just don't want to be the "one" on site with the dodgy looking awning (and there is always at least one) lol
