hope it didn't cause any damage to your van, you should be fine to get your poles exchanged but check that it hasn't caused any damage to the awning itself, might save on any further trips out

One tip if you are going to put an awning up ask a few others on site to keep an eye on pegs if they get dislodged by wind or retighten storm strap while you`re away to stop total collapse. Awning came down on site i am on at the moment overnight (last night) Repegged a porch awning and tightened storm strap on another this morning, awning side was flapping around in wind.

Another site I was on in last winter I had been away myself for a long time and came on site and saw another tragedy.

Awning fallen down

i found that in a storm at moffat, there was a rattle noise in the awning which was a mystery.then i found due to the awning being blown to and fro the poles were working loose at the screw connections.i know these were tight because i went round and did every one with hook for pulling out the pegs.so its worth noting they can work loose.
