Hi Mick + Tina,
Looks good, but how easy are the filters to get?

Bob
They are not disposable filters, you wash them out, so whilst one is drying you have a spare in the machine.

This one is excellent, its an upright and small hand held, sucks up water and dog hair and is very light.

How good is it for dog hairs? Excellent? Good? or just fair?

I wouldn't buy a dyson, same reason as above.
think after reading the above I will go for the Black and decker Anyone know if you can get an adapter to use on mains?
Our new car has black carpets, (it's all my fault for not paying attention), it's hubby's car and he's the messy one too. so if i've any chance of keeping it clean hei'll need one in the car, let you know how it worked out with the dog as we have a Briard, they don't shed much a fraction of labs, but it's long.

We have an Electrolux Pod, can't remember the price though. Good suction and a rotating brush head plus various tools.
