Before you buy a 12v tv it is worth checking out www.anrleisure.co.uk they sometimes have show models of avtex and sovos range at good prices. Customer service is also excellent.
19" screen, Great picture & Sound, DVD works a treat and built in freeview all for £129.99 :)
That's the one I've just bought for our family. Why am I bragging....well I don't have a job as I'm a full time mum...but I love decorating and my friend has had an extension done on her house and was telling me how much it was going to cost her to get the rooms painted... So I offered to do it for her. She wouldn't let me do it for nothing....and I wouldn't charge as much as the quotes...but after 15 hours of me having a ball doing something I love...I only had to add a wee bit to get something that I wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise. And now when we go away and we're sitting cuddled up watching TV I can see my hard work.
[Oh and apparently...i paint far better than I sing!!]
------------- My photos allow you to see what I saw at the time that I took it....No messing.
I wasn't going to buy a TV for the caravan - never having had or missed one in the tent. However, I've changed my mind and the TV from Argos looks just the job - if they are still the same price

Growing up is mandatory, growing old is optional
After looking at the Avtex a few times and thinking to dear, I brought one in Feb from the show. So glad I did it's superb, great picture quality and view from different angles. I must be getting soft I've always said going away is to get away from the TV.
If you are likely to want the luxury of a TV in the caravan, you are likely to want the luxury of electricity, so I wouldn't worry about a 12v TV (IMHO). 12v/mains TV generally cost more than just mains, but the combo TV/DVD player are all reasonably priced at the moment and are available from a wide variety of places. This is what we have. I suppose the down side is that if either the TV side or the DVD side breaks down you are without the whole system - as this rarely happens, I wouldn't let that worry me either. They are 'relatively cheap' and when they do start to go wrong, it would probably be just as cost effective to ditch it and buy another - unless, of course it started to play up when I bought it. In that case I'd just take it back.
guy at the dealers showed us how to work the van bits and pieces told him we never use tv in the van he was horrified books is grate keeps you litterrat!
We have an AVTEX unit that we treated ourselves to to replace a one year old Grundig 15" widescreen with DVD and freeview that was frankly very disappointing for the money.
The AVTEX (as it should be) is streets ahead of the the Grundig for signal in weak signal areas and it also has a far wider viewing angle, so I am not stuck looking at a dark screen. On 12v it draws about 2A so our 110 AH battery will allow a good amount of viewing if we are stuck without electricty. Remember that C&C club do not allow booking of an electric pitch for a 1 night Saturday stay.....
When we wanted a 19" for the caravan we bought both a tesco and an asda one with built in freeview and dvd players. Both had good points and bad points but the picture was slightly better on the tesco one, the asda one seemed to have a better tuner and pulled in more channels. We eventually settled on the tesco one because the buttons on the remote were easier to use when lying in bed in the dark. Both were under £130 but neither were 12v. We bought a small inverter from Maplins for £20 and we use this to power TV and satellite system in the caravan. So far we are very pleased with it.
------------- The things that come to those who wait, may be the only things left by those who got there first.
Just thought I would add to this post in that I have just purchased a Mains/12v tv from Comet. It is a 19 inch, with DVD, HD ready digital for £169. Of course it does not come with a 12v lead but you can pick them up reasonably. We will be using it this weekend so I will let you know what it is like. Oh sorry, Kenmark is the make.
