hi all i need your help again im thinking of buying a tv antenna for my caravan i have a free view box and would like your knowledge on what i should buy many thanks pete
Pete, This should do the trick but you have to remember that picking up a strong signal in a caravan is not so easy. At home once you have set up the freeview antenna, thats pretty much job done, but you will need to be in an excellent area for reception for freeview in your van. I really have doubts as to whether you can achieve this succesfully. Best of luck with the idea anyway......
The problem with Freeview at present is the strength of signal.
When the analogue signal is switched off the Freeview digital signal will be strengthened which might make it easier to pick up in our caravans.
Where I live (in a reasonably good area for Freeview reception) most houses are receiving Freeview via loft aerials (through the roof tiles) which bodes well for caravans once the signal strength is increased.

i went to my local aerial shop .he said he could sale me one of those wide gain aerials for £26 ,but then came back with a 3ft normal aerial which would cost £4.i have had it now for a few years and have not had a problem! my two freeview boxes at home run off one normal aerial
I tried freeview in the caravan. Only one site I went to got any reception. (Ironically that was also in Brean) I finally gave up on the idea and bought a Maplins satellite suitcase kit. Money well spent. I recommend anyone do the same. Freeview is a waste of time. They clain to have a coverage of 95%. Clearly it is 95% of the population, not 95%of the UK. Given that most sites are out of the towns and cities, most will not get freeview.
-we also bought a Maplins satalite set last year we had no trouble getting reception from all around the country. They are now selling a 12volt one for £80 joyce
