A word of warning- it's an expensive business initially! You ideally need: insurance (£200+) hitchlock (£50+) wheelclamp (£50+) maybe a tracker (£500+) a waste master (£40), an aquaroll (£40), awning, (£150 - £800+) etc...plus storage...it all adds up.
Whatever you do, have fun!
If you get a cheap starter van you will not need all the above it depends what you get....
would you be happy to insure a £500 van, is it worth it? weigh that one up
Hitchlock is a must I think, you can get these on ebay
I dont have a wheel clamp
A Tracker???? no need unless its a brand spanker
wastemaster and aquaroll can come later, you can get other water carriers, and a set of wheels for now, even so the yare cheaper than the above at mitchells if you buy both together
awning - if you get a van big enough for you all you dont need one just yet again this can come later, we have a 4 berth that comfortably sleeps all 5 of us and we only use our awning for long stays, hardly worth it just for the weekend....
so oyu see its not really that expensive and most of the above are not'needs' as such just 'nice to haves'
please dont be put off, just take your time.
what you will 'need' though is, a gas bottle now theres no substitute there is there, unless you can run your cokker on electric and have an eleftic fire and boiler....
£30 deposit full, then approx £15 to refill
you will need pots pans, and sleeping bags or duvets....
a Tow bar, doesnt 'have' to be twin electrics you can use single. dont forget to check the weights of your unit as well, make sure your car is suitable.
a hook up lead, you will need this unless you plan to run off your battery all the time....personally I wouldnt recomend this but others may think differently.
I cant think of anything else for now, its early and im still fuzzy.
Have fun and let us know how you get on.....
