To protect our cables from being a nuisance, we use a length of that cable tidy stuff - plastic tube with curved 'teeth' all along it.
You literally zip up your black/grey cables with it, leaving just the plug ends exposed. Seems to keep the cables tidy when the van is parked up and helps stop excess cable dangling on the ground too.
- Okay, so it wasn't exactly our idea. We saw it on another van in our storage and pinched the idea. You only need a little bit, so you can use the rest to tidy up the nest of cables behind your TV or PC!
Lots of places sell it - office stationers, TV & audio shops, PC shops etc,.
Works a treat though!
