hi there

we want to buy a caravan

we have camped and have most of the stuff to go with as we go camping with the kids over most summers

but i have no idea on where to start with a caravan

we have look on ebay and tryed to come up with a idea of what we are looking for

a dry van would be a great start!

needs to sleep 4/5 peoples and tow well

as a first time buyer i think they see me coming so what should i be asking and what should i be looking for ?

we want it for dog shows ( dogs would sleep in the car in crates but awning is a must ) as well as taking the kids to the sea side

i am not sure on where to start or where to buy any help would be great

We have just bought our 1st van after having camped for the last couple of years. We were lucky in that we have friends who are experienced caravanners and their help and advice has been invaluable. Fortunatly my job brings me into contact with loads of different people so I just to mention that I was looking for a caravan and got loads and lods of tips that way as well.

You can buy a damp detector for about £10 - £15 which will aid you in discovering if the van you a re viewing has any damp. If the floor feels springy (we viewed a few that felt like we were standing on a trampoline!!!) then you have a problem there.

If you can find somebody who is giving up caravanning and selling the whole kit and kaboodle then even better. We are over the moon with our van, it's got everything with it but believe me we looked at some really awful ones before we found this beauty.

We are giving up for the foreseeable future (lack of time and our older son is getting to the age where he doesn't want to come with us) so have now put our caravan up for sale. It's in excellent condition and there are lots of new and nearly new extras with it. If you are interested, please contact me and I will send you details.
