I was staying at Oxon caravan park in Shrewsbury this weekend for the night, and after packing up, and hitching the caravan onto the car, and double checking everything was ok - drove off, and left the caravan behind.

I was some what surprised after doing this as everything had been ok. Anyway I tried to lift the caravan with the jockey and it didn't work. Then someone else on the site drove past us and saw we were having trouble. They came straight over to help, and within a few minutes I had the caravan back on the car - minus a security hook.

Just want to say thankyou again to the person who helped - if they read this website!

I think where-ever you were someone would have come to your help, most caravaneers are a friendly helpful bunch.  When we were caravaning for the very first time, we had an awning, and people on site were saying when you go to put your awning up give us a shout and I'll come and help.

That's one of the reasons why we enjoy it so much.

There are no more friendly people than caravanners, I have helped out on several occasions, and when I first sterted ( 15 years ago ) I also got many offers of help and advice, ps just spent 10 dats at Center Parcs, would never go again, not the place, but the bloody idiots that seem to frequent it!!!

Have to agree . MOST caravanners are friendly and helpful..
People setting up next to us (caravan or tent) are generally offered a hot drink if they want one and help if they need it.
Most go for option 1.
