Hi all,

We put our awning up yesterday, with the help of another caravanner. It's up now for the rest of the season until the end of October.

It's the first time we've even had it out of the bag let alone putting it up since buying the van 2 years ago.

It's in a condition which suggests that it's never been used very much except for 3 small tears which are spaced well apart and are positioned at either end of the awning. They are just over the roof of the awning, on the edges, so are likely to let water in when it rains heavily. It looks as if the damage to each end probably occurred at the same time when the top section was folded away.

The guy who gave us a hand reckoned that it is possible to buy repair kit material that's adhesive and can be cut up and fixed to the tear - rather like a plaster for a cut.

I've been looking on the web, but can't seem to find anything suitably described. Anybody any ideas where it can be sourced please?

Cheers,

Tony.

Isabella do 2 different repair patches,1 for the acrylic material and 1 for the roof /windows. I know Harringtons at delamere, near to you stock them both.

We had to do an emergency repair jobby on our old, (VERY old), Telt Larsen awning some years back but were lucky enough to get a patch up kit from the camp shop, (Pentewan), after gale force winds had ruined many an awnings, ripped the side of one caravan right off where the awning took off over the roof, flooded various others awnings and tents while all we suffered was through our, (my HUBBY'S to be precise), own fault!

The number of times I'd told him NOT to prop our fishing rods up against the inside of the  awnings side is nobody's business.....suffice to say....he aint done it since

The little repair kit was brill and as it turned out a really good match for the hole that was about the size of a 50p piece and lasted us for the rest of that awning's days which was quite a few more years. Of course, being such an old awning, it wasn't made of all the lightweight modern stuff, just good old.....heavy......cotton
