Please can anyone tell me what kind of toaster I can use in a caravan. We have a kettle which is 2kw which is what I have been told to have. Does it matter about wattage?
Many peeps use domestic appliances and then wonder why site electrics trip out. When lots of peeps all switch on at the same time site systems very often cannot cope. Buy the proper camping appliances, they are not that expensive. A lot depends on the site supply, and how many peeps are drawing from it.
Take the wattage of your appliance, divide by 230 and the answer is the wattage you are pulling from the hookup. We use ordinary domestic appliances.Kettle,Toaster,Slow Cooker,Sandwich Maker,Microwave etc etc A 10amp hookup would trip if we fired up anything with a heating element while
our 2.2kw kettle was on. so we don't. Had no bother yet.
Some sites have 16 amp hookups but whatever the rating because each is individual only one of Bernie s 'peeps' trips the supply.Enjoy yourselves

Sorry,I should have said this is the AMPERAGE you are pulling from the hookup
I found an easy way to toast my bread, recently we stayed at a site dead opposite Flamingo Land, I asked the kids if they wanted toast for breakfast? both of them did so I sent them across the road with a slice of bread each, and told them to put it under the gorilla..
We use ordinary domestic kettle and toaster and have never had any probs. Mind you, I wish someone would invent a toaster that toasted both sides at once - top, bottom and middle!

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
We have a cheapy that does us - we have to disconnect the smoke alarm every time we use it though, or it goes off - even with the kitchen window open next to it.
I have a cordless cheapy kettle from Tesco and so far, touch wood, it hasn't blown the fuse, and the leccy on our site can be a bit temperamental. I think as long as you're sensible and don't have everything going at the same time, you'll be okay.
