We're thinking of buying a porch awning. Are they ok to use as a spare sleeping area? I'm concerned they may not be rainproof as I don't see how they seal against the caravan side.

If one particular brand does seal better than the others - please tell me.

Your comments and advice appreciated.

We have a Dorema Hilton, which seals just as well as our Bradcot full size awning, and is completely waterproof. You could certainly sleep in it.

Hi, The newer lightweight ones are very easy to erect and are popular but they are really only showerproof. The slightly older types such as Isabella Combi 625 or 680 or the Magnums would be much better for sleeping in.The frames are stronger too. We have used Isabella Porch awnings for years and have never had any water leaks.

We have used a little 2 man tent inside the porch awning when our biker son stayed with us - and the m/bike took up the rest of the awning!
