From custers link
Towing vehicle under 3500kg GVW |
Length (excluding the coupling and drawbar) |
7.0 metres |
Maximum width |
2.3 metres |
So Unless you have a Transit class vehicle or larger there is NO 18m limit (thats actually a 60ft 44 tonne combo) just the 7m+ drawbar for the trailer.
With modern sloping & curved fronts I sure wouldnt like to be a test case as what was drawbar and what was trailer. My race trailer is easy, a 6.5m loadbed and its obvious what is trailer and what is drawbar :)
So when checking with recovery organisations etc, confirm whether they are toalking shipping (on the road hitch-numberplate length) or "trailer length" as legally defined, be it loadbed, habital, enclosed or whatever excluding drawbar
