hi
We brought a eccles moonstone 07 model for £15,000.
used for a 4 day trip to weymouth and a 3 day trip to a local wildlife park.
Caravans laminate started peeling all over, things started falling off.
Sent it back to sterling and 22 repairs needed doing, they have had our van nearly 3 months now and we are still waiting to get it back.
We only had the van 7 months and asked if we could have a new replacement but sterling refused.
Has any one else had these major problems?

No, just a few minor things.  Why on earth have they had your 'van so long?  That would be my main concern.

Hi Rizzo

its because of the 22 repairs.
we are going to different places in July, so they better pull there finger out.
You dont expect to pay all that money to get a shoddy van,
My friend brought a baileys at the same time, £3000 cheaper and not one single problem.
You would of thought as a good will esture they would of replaced our van with a new one, after all they are a multi-million pound company.

I wouldn't be happy either, has your dealer been on your side?  I know someone whose Abbey (same comapny), has had the roof stripped off amongst other things and they didn't have it that long.

We got our new Moonstone in May and have been away in it twice. It is going back to the dealer next week to have the drawer under the place where the TV goes replaced as the front of it fell off when I opened it. We also need the bed slats for the single bunk sorting out. They won't fit over the stoppers as they are too wide and therefore keep moving during the night. This has resulted in our 9 year old falling out of bed most nights we have used it so far so we want it sorting before taking the van to France for three weeks in August. These are small problems but when you pay so much for a new van you hope not to have any problems at all. The only consolation is that the dealer we got it from is fantastic so we know it will get sorted.

After nearly three months I think you are entitled to a lot of explanations!  You may find it helpful to ring Consumer Direct on Monday and explain your problem to them. They at least will be able to advise you on your rights as a consumer. I suspect that you may be entitled to reject the goods and get a full refund.

Thank you all

for your sound advice, and borojo our draw fell off in the same place too.
Our dealer was ok, they said even though we took out the 6 year warranty that swift had a right to try to repair this.
and it was unlikely we would get a replacement van.
It is heartbreaking to know that the van has had loads more people trampling about in it, it makes me feel that it takes away the newness of it and makes it feel like a used van.
Nothing wrong in having a used van but we purchased a brand new one from berkshire caravans and was told our 2007 moonstone was the first one off the production line.
Maybe thats why its so shoddy.
Anyway my partner has been told that they are having trouble getting some of the parts, thats what the delay is.
My partner asked for compensation and was told wait until you get the van back then talk to us again.
I think swift should of replaced the van straight away, with the amount of repairs needing doing.
We put it in with 16 repairs, swift wrote back with 22 repairs, 6 of them un-noticed by us.
I will keep you all posted with the outcome.
And thank you once again

Marina
