Hello

Can anyone tell me the best caravan route to Ayr area. I notice the AA have taken off the caravan route option on their route planner. I will be travelling along A69 from Newcastle and onto A74 not sure of best route.

Any help would be appreciated as I'll be driving!

The route I took to Craig Tarra, Ayre was:

A69 to Brampton,  sign to A689 (M6)    Briefly on M6 then A74,

A75 towards Dumfries

A76 to Cumnock

east on A70

This is not as direct as the A713 but not as hilly.

There are some sections which are hilly and bendy but in general is a nice drive.

Have you tried finding the campsite in the virtual brochure aboeb, click on the big M then enter your post code it will give you a route.

I think it recomends the A74 all way to A20

 I live 10 miles from Ayr and have done all the routes in my time but always carry on up the A74 until you cut off for KILMARNOCK marked A71 and you will come to sign posts for Ayr and Preswick airport on that road and just follow them.  Brian T

Thanks Brian I'll looking into this route this was a option I was looking into, seems less hilly and better roads - I haven't been to this area before looking forward to our visit just need the weather!
