Placed an order with Riversway Leisure on Sunday for a Como sun canopy to take with us on Saturday. They 100% guaranteed us it would arrive in plenty of time for our holiday. Didn't arrive by today so I called them so get the story. "Yes sir, no problem the canopy is in our warehouse now sir and will be dispatched within the next 48 hrs."
You know I was happy to hear that don't you. So I expressed my dissatisfaction stating the blindingly obvious i.e. in 48 hours we will be getting ready to set sail on the North Sea and that they categorically guaranteed we would have had it well before we set off.
"Sorry Sir but there is nothing I can do about it."
To which I replied, "You have the canopy in the warehouse and it is ready to send out?"
"Yes sir"
"Well make sure you send it so it arrives before we go."
"The best I can do is send it first thing tomorrow by Inter Link to arrive before 12 noon Saturday"
Bottom line is I have accepted this even although it delays our departure from Fife but will still leave plenty of time to get to Hull by 7.30 latest for check in.
My first complaint is that they should never have promised the delivery time if they couldn't deliver and secondly should not have said there is nothing I can do when clearly there was - i.e. send it overnight courier - at their expense I hasten to add.
Right that's that off my chest. As you were campers
Well wait for it folks. Got a phone call from them at 2pm saying sorry the canopy in the warehouse is a 7m not a 6m can we just send that to you no extra charge. Jesus! it's like buying a fair of size 9 shoes and them saying when u go to collect them sorry we've got you a 10 instead but it's ok we wont charge you anymore for them!
How they then expected to get the bloody thing here before 12 tomorrow is a mystery too.
Anyway, order cancelled and I will NOT EVER use the company again. To make and break promises twice in a week tell me all I need to know.
I had the same sort of problem I ordered a starcamp 390 awning in mid may ,was assured that it was in stock and would be delivered within seven days. Talking to a mate he said he had orderewd the same awning from a dealer and was told it would not be in stock until the end of may at the earliest. Riversways answer was sorry someone should have told you, so I cancelled and bought locally cheaper (no carriage to pay)
We almost ordered 2 Lafuma recliners from Riversway. The only reason we went elsewhere was because they did not have the fabric pattern that we wanted. The alternative company was www.garden4less.co.uk and they delivered via Parcelforce within 2 days of ordering. Parcelforce also have online order tracking facilities.
We usually get a Riversway circular with our C.C. mag, and always peruse it to see if there is anything we require. Thanks to the experiences reported on this thread, any future Riversway circulars will go straight into the recycling bag. Just shows how useful these forums are for warning fellow campers about unreliable dealers. Keep up the good work.
