We are traveling to Cornwall from Kent in August and are thinking of making an overnight stop around half way (preferable somewhere just to pull over and get a few hours sleep). The route we intend to take is the A303, A30 and A39 I have tried Googling but I cannot find anywhere. Can anyone please help?

Hi Tony,

had the same problem ourselves. We've been looking at a mway service area on the M5 - not ideal, but we've used a couple of others, and it's ok for a few hours kip overnight.

I'm sure there's one near to, or slightly north of, the junction where the A303 meets the M5.

I can't remember where we stopped but we found ourselves inadvertently on TV when CCTV footage was shown to help find some people who had stolen a caravan whilst we there parked up. Scary. Wherever you stop, it does seem to be an area that's having more than its "fair share" of caravans stolen, so take care and have a good time.

Whenever we've taken the A303 route to Cornwall, we have always stayed at Putts Corner CC Site just outside Honiton. It's a lovely site, dead convenient and there's a fab pub a couple of hundred yards up the road that does a superb carvery.

Just the job at the end of a hard days driving.........

Ditto the comment about Putts Corner - a lovely site
