I rinsed my aquaroll with tap water five years ago before I used it for the first time. I've done nothing to it since apart from filling it from the tap on site and using the water. We wash with it, wash up with it and drink it.
No problems at all.
I fitted a new water storage tank in my loft at home about ten years ago and I've never cleaned that either.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.

Interesting that this thread started off in 2007, lay dormant for 10 years, & then came back to life.
It shows that the basics in tin tenting don't change too much.

Like many other aspects of camping/caravanning, it all comes down to personal experience.
Up until 6 years ago we had never had any problems with using drinking water straight from the taps/water butt. We have been camping/caravanning for over 60 years.
Then we got foul water from a tap on a caravan site (now closed) that made us ill for a few days.
Since then all drinking water comes straight from the site tap and is kept in a 5 gallon separate container and used only for filling the kettle.
It's a pity that one site has rather spoiled a life long practise, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
------------- Lobey.
