Hi

Sorry to bring up the subject of insurance again, but I am confused. I have got several quotes ranging from £295 from e&l to £508.74 from caravan wise.

Anybody got some advice for a confused newbie, is anyone insured by e&l.

Hi Tim,

I don't know what your insurance needs are, but i used to be with E&L until i came across www.caravanoqd.co.uk who are one quote direct, much cheaper for the same cover. sorry if i'm covering ground you've already been over.

have you tried caravan guard we got a good deal also discount for ukcampsite members

Caravan Guard wouldn't cover our van - a 2001 Elddis Avante 534 so nothing spectacular - unless we had it attached to a hitch post.  This was after we explained that it would be spending this March to October on a seasonal (grass) pitch!

It does have a Sold Secure wheel clamp, a hitch lock and a door alarm but CG couldn't seem to understand that the park owner wouldn't allow us to concrete a post into the middle of his touring field - we didn't go with them.

I've seen many recommendations for the Caravan Club and, as we'll be touring next season and therefore joining the Club, we'll probably go with them.

If you ever need to make a claim you will not regret that decision. They are probably not the cheapest but they are usually competitive. As to E&L I have heard lots of sob stories about them.

Our cheapest quote was with Shield.  Fortunately we haven't had to make a claim but I haven't heard anything bad about them.  Might be worth a look.

I found the caravan insurance world to be a mass of varying quotes all quoting for the same cover. I can only assume they work on different commission levels.

I elected to stay with caravan guard as I've insured with them for years. My mate swears by the CC & said he as had good service from them.
