Bertie you would need to read my previous post to understand.

The mover was fitted on 19th & 20th July (about 7 hours or more) but could not be fitted in front of the wheels and was fitted behind. The waste pipes were disconnected as they were creating an obstruction to the mover and I am now having to relocate them.

If it wasn't for the mover I would not be talking about waste pipes on this thread but the original post asked about the length of time to fit a mover and I posted a reply to that.

My experience shows that a non standard fit can create problems and take a long time. The only posts that I have read (and I read a lot before proceeding) seem to be standard and without problems.

Sorry, Alinsmoggie. Misunderstood your reasoning.  I know that it can sometimes be difficult to fit the mover in front of the wheels.  My last van was an Elddis, with a BPW chassis.  The A-frame taper went too far back for the standard Powrtouch clamping plates to fit.

So I modified the profile of the plates and redrilled the flanged plates, then fitted the unit in front of the wheels.

The mover gets too much road dirt thrown up at it in wet weather when mounted at the back.  I sprayed my mover's moving parts with motorcycle chain wax.  I suggest you do the same, to give it some protection.

Bertie.

No problem. I hope you weren't on the Burgundy when you did that lot.

The fitter suggested motorcycle chain wax so I am glad of your confirmation that it is worthwhile. Powrtouch knew my van and that there may be problems. The job sheet said they may be a problem 'with the door' but it has been a bit more than that.

I suppose I could make sure we only travel in dry weather.

Good news so far - I got a call from a very cheerful and polite lady at Powrwheel to say they'd be able to get the mover out to us in time and that she'd left a message for the fitter to call Powrwheel to confirm he could meet our time constraints.

I didn't get a chance to go far from the phone when it rang again to say the fitter had just called and would 11th August be OK?  Perfect for us so delighted so far with Powrwheel's service.

I will need to contact them to ask if they could send the mover direct to our seasonal park, rather than to our home address but, as they've been so good so far, I don't forsee any problem with that.

Not always possible in this country, Alan.  You got me thinking though.  I suppose it would be possible to put plastic bags over the units and secure them with cable ties.  It would be necessary to ensure that the bags could not flap near to the road wheels, but with the 20 mm clearance that shouldn't be difficult.  They could be wrapped tightly, and bound with brown packing tape.

Bertie.

Just a quick update and recommendation - Powrwheel sent the mover to the Park where our 'van lives and the fitter attended at the time and date they'd said he would.

He stayed in the 'van drinking tea for a while - vain hope that the rain would go off  [:(] but he did eventually get out there and fit it.  All done in just a few hours and it's superb.  We only had a quick shot, moving the 'van off its pitch and back on, really to check the thing worked but it seems great!  [:D] [:o)] [:o)]

Going away this weekend then having another few days away next week before going back to our seasonal pitch for the rest of the season so it should get a little more use then.

So far, nothing but praise for Powrwheel - their customer service has been excellent!
