Ok - today had a look at other non UK caravans for the family. Adria Andora and Geist. All ok but no patch on the Hymer 530k with fixed bunk beds at rear. The Hymer really did stand out. ANywaym, Burstner no longer do this type of van, BUT on the way back saw a Hobby so thought IU'd have a look on the web - and they do the same van we need 540 UK in both in several models.
Anywa- we are in Surrey and they are few and far between and I was hoping someone has one and can a - tell me whats it like (eg do you get a shower) and any issues with sites, and b - possibly email me some pics so the wife can.
Thanks
Scott

I have seen posts that say they can be hard to insure and they also tend to be one of the ones mentioned when sites say "No Hobby, Tabbert......" etc etc.

Sad to say, but Hobby's are big thieft magnets...........
Who says?
Is there a survey that shows that more Hobby caravans get nicked than any other?
I have also asked on another post how many people actually get asked what make their van is when booking? I have never been asked.
We have a Hobby and insure with the C & C Club. Granted it is only a single axle and a small Hobby but I am sure some owners of largers Hobby's will come along and let you know their opinions. We love our Hobby and have had no problems booking onto any site or getting insurance. We store on a Casoa Gold site and they did not ask the make when I made the first booking, they only asked single or twin axle so that they could allocate the correct size pitch, when we turned up with the Hobby there was no problem.
Sorry Scott that I can't help re the 540 ours is only a 450 but whatever van you choose I wish many happy years holidaying in it.
Cheers

You shouldnt be offended when people tell you they are nickable. I lock this type up for a living and can verify all that is being said. I love Hobby vans - I had my eye on one when we were buying, but the sad fact is that they are loved by the travellers. Look at any site, makeshift or legal and you will see the familiar blue stripe down the sides of their vans. 'I am sure they are all legit and purchased properly' but the fact is if you own a Hobby you are at more risk of theft.
