Have used it 3 times now. Its easy enough to put up and store away but we can never get it to sit right. We are probably just not doing it right but its really anoying me having just got back from a week at The Plassey in Wales. I believe there are newer models and that I may have an older one although I did buy it this year.

On a hardstanding I cant get the pegs into the bands nearest the van, this leads to a floppy side with howling wind.

It kills my back to use the side doors (the most convenient) so I have to unzip the massive front part every time I want to come in/out.

The draught skirt is useless as the awning has to sit quite far over to the rear of the van as the door is there. The skirt rail finishes earlier than the awning and another GAP!!

The groundsheet I bought on this site doesnt fit it (about15-30cm to narrow)

Theres a wierd rope on the inside under the roof and I have no idea what its for.

So far a toggle, a rivet ring thingy of the front skirt/trim and a rubber ladder have all broken off not to mention the rubber ladder marks on the roof material (have always packed it away dry) and a snag in it leaving a 1cm hole in the side (no idea where that came from) I'm right peed off with the thing and wish I'd bought something else.

Also its says on the instructions to refer to the picture for correct erection and I dont have a so**ing picture!!!

Feel better now for telling someone!!!!
Is everyone all satisfied with theirs?

Saw a couple of these whilst touring Scotland last month & neither seamed to look/sit just quite right. I was talking with one owner who said that he wished he had never bought the spacelite and had come over to look at our Sunncamp ultima.

We've got one, Used it three times and finally got it right the last time, I have no idea what the rope through the middle that goes outside is for though! Try Sliding it to a different position on your van, Ours is towards the back of the van at a high point and we've had less flappage!

Wouldn't trust it in the wind though! The doors are annoying and do you find with the curtains closed it will not zip up properly as its to tight! Have to leave the curtains open, Our skirt for it is massive though,

I think the other outdoor revolution awnings may possibly be better and cheaper!

Its growing on us slowly though!

We plumped for the Sunncamp Ultima too.  I can vouch for it standing up to howling wind and rain for a fortnight back in June too !

Our Sunncamp Ultima didn't like the Scottish "breeze" at Barns Ness.  I think Scottish breezes are the equivalent  of an English force 10 gale.

Anyway, we ended up buying a Dorema full awning which takes very little effort and time to put up and stands up to Scottish breezes

This sounds very disappointing as we really wanted a Spacelite awning.  However, it is just too big for my modest little van so we opted for the Sunncamp Contempo.  We're really pleased with this awning so perhaps it's just as well we did'nt get a Spacelite.

We have just come back from 10 days away and I have decided that the spacelite really is ok, after the 1st outing with it I wasn't sure.  The rope thing through the middle is to tension the roof (we rang them to ask what it was for). It stood up well to some fairly heavy wind and I got used to being dripped on by condensation in the morning  It is so quick to put up and pack away so that makes up for the fact that we can't get the left hand side to not be baggy!  We found that if you bring the ends of the pole in slightly closer together it stops the problem with the tension accros the front. We don't use the side doors as using the front is more convienient for us so  that's not a problem. I did notice yellow marks on the roof material and couldn't work out what they were but after reading this I know it's the rubber ladders.

Not got one but we have an Ultima 260 and that is fantastic.  It has stood up to all the rain this year no problem and is very roomy and easy to erect.

Our bretagne has a door quite far off to one side and hence the awning isnt great with the curvy nature of the side which either gives a gap at the bottom or rubs on the door at the top - not great. Would be better on a van with a more central door.
