Kev

I own a Bailey.

I have been looking to change to a Bailey Wyoming, in doing so I did not want to discount other companies.

I even considered the Fleetwood range.  I have to say the finish on the fleetwoods far supassed that of Baileys. However at as much as 5k difference you would expect that.

Unfortunately, despite however many opinions you are offered, the choice is yours.

Good luck and happy hunting

Hi Kev

we have a lunar, who also do a 6 berth which we've loooked at and friends had an avondale 6 berth.  So there are plenty to go at. Bailey's pageant range also do a 6 berth which would have more kit and still be cheaper than the fleetwood.  We had a colchester 560 and had a few probs with the build quality, so I think that there's good n bad in all makes. Have had a ranger before and liked it, but like you say, it is a bit basic. So there's plenty of food for thought.

Happy caravanning

My advise would be to wait until the caravan shows, that way you can usually go from one to the other then back again etc, that's how we made up and mind. it's easy to compare that way.

I would agree it's a good idea to compare caravans at a show. We bought our Fleetwood Sonata Rhapsody at the Cottingham show, having gone from one caravan to another. Basically we just fell in love with the layout and finish of the Fleetwood, and nothing else compared!

We had looked at the Bailey Ranger equivalent the previous week and, while it is a good, basic van, the Fleetwood just seemed to have the 'wow' factor!

We really like the Fleetwood, and it gets plenty of admiring looks as well!

Unless you are getting a seriously big discount I would not buy a new van at this time of year. New models will be starting to appear soon and 2007 models will be cut in price.

We  had a Bailey Camarge which was a very nice van, in May we bought a brand new Fleetwood Heritage with  end bedroom  also a nice van but the bathroom door handle broke off, our daughter came to stay  she made up the front bed  then  2  lats   broke, the wood at side of one sette came apart then the locking catch of the freezer door  has broke so will have to be taped up when we move to stop it swinging open,  hubby has fixed the bed and  sette as we bought the van  in Northumberland  its too far  to take it back so will wait while we are in the area, mind the dealers told us they will send us a new handle  this was in June still waiting  i rang 3 times and  all i get is they will put it in the post  they are  useless but apart from all this i love the van

don't forget though if you wait till the nec show in October you might have to wait till next may to get your 2008 model van.

Spoke to a dealer about the 620/6 last week. Bailey are giving a November delivery for them at the moment. I was also told that they will be 2008 VIN. Also I have not seen anything close to the 620/6 with the layout and price

The wife and I purchased a 97 Fleetwood Cavandish 4 birth caravan last year and its been brill. Nice layout, not gloomy like some vans we looked at.  Rather long for a single axle but easy enough to tow with an 2001 2lt Diesel Citroen C5 (economical car for towing.  From what I've seen of the newer Fleetwoods, the build quality is not so good as the older models but of course, the newer ones are more 'swish'.  All in all? I'd go for my old Fleetwood as it's warm, cosy, easy to tow and well, it's our friend.  Oh and my dogs are really keen on it too.

Good luck and sincere wishes from Dave N Jan.

We too sold our 1996 Fleetwood Garland last year, and for it's age was in excellent condition. The kitchen units were second to none. I too would buy another.

We have the Fleetwood Sonata Melody (5 berth - twin dinette layout).  After deciding the layout we wanted we tried all the different makes and the Fleetwood came out way ahead of the others on both spec and finish. The price was comparable as well.

However at the end of the day it will be the one that suits you best and as everyone says you will only make this decision after comparing the makes.
